In 2004 I set out to create a full-length rap album under the alter-ego "The Musical Healer." The songs on this album were mostly written while I was working at a political polling firm in San Francisco. It was an election year and the president had recently launched an illegal war with Iraq. I was deeply steeped in the politics of the day, and thus all of the songs on this album were inspired by whatever articles I read in the newspaper that afternoon.

I put out the word to some friends that I was working on a political rap album and asked if any of them would be willing to contribute beats. Several of them quickly came through including Coolzey, Andrew Duncan, (who at the time was playing with the band OK GO), The Nazz, and The Rhombus. At the time I didn't have much in the way of equipment, but I managed to score a Yamaha DJ-X keyboard used for under $100. That keyboard became a key part of the production for this release.

This album currently stands as my only full-length rap album, and also marked the last time I recorded a full album on cassette, (using a Tascam 488 8-track recorder).

At the time I was very proud of this release and actually sent copies of it out to several independent labels around the country. Though I never heard back from any of them, I continued to press and self-release copies for many years after. The album has long been out of print, until now! Please enjoy, (and sorry about all of the incredibly dated political references).
